Dr. Jennifer Kanapicki Comer is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University, where she serves as Director of Faculty Development and Co Director of the Medical Education Scholarship Fellowship. A Connecticut native, she earned her medical degree from Upstate Medical University and completed residency training at Stanford, followed by dual fellowship training in International Emergency Medicine and Medical Education. These experiences shaped her enduring commitment to physician development, educational innovation, and sustainable careers in Emergency Medicine.
At Stanford, Dr. Kanapicki leads faculty growth and advancement through the EMpowered Faculty Development program, a comprehensive initiative designed to support lifelong learning, leadership development, and clinical excellence. Her work emphasizes practical skill building, peer connection, and creating psychologically safe spaces for faculty to learn and grow. As Co-Director of the Medical Education Scholarship Fellowship, she mentors future education scholars in curriculum development, educational research, and academic leadership.
Nationally, Dr. Kanapicki has held multiple leadership roles within the American Academy of Emergency Medicine. She is a former member of the AAEM Board of Directors, past President of Cal AAEM, and currently serves as President of the AAEM Wellness Committee, where she helps advance initiatives focused on physician well-being, longevity, and professional fulfillment.
Dr. Kanapicki lectures nationally on physician efficiency, time mastery, and career sustainability. Her talks blend evidence-based strategies with practical tools that resonate across career stages.
