Hyperglycemic emergencies are commonly encountered in the emergency department. Guidelines that guide the diagnosis and care of patients with these disease processes are antiquated. Recently, a new set of guidelines was finally published and incorporates evidence-based guidelines to improve the care of these critically ill patients. During this lecture, the speaker will discuss these new guidelines so that clinicians can better and more efficiently care for these patients in the emergency department.
