Dr. Manish Garg, MD FAAEM is a Professor and the Senior Director of Learner Development & Academic Advising in the Departments of Emergency Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Cornell & Columbia. As the past DVAAEM Philadelphia President and past AAEM international chair, Dr. Garg is proud to contribute to AAEM over the years through lectures, committee work and leadership positions.
Dr. Garg’s academic interests are in medical education, emerging infectious disease, global health, procedures, leadership, EM practice, and resuscitation. He is a respected educator and researcher having published over 60 peer-reviewed publications and providing many lectures internationally. He has mentored hundreds of medical students and residents and has been honored with multiple golden apple, medical student, and resident teacher of the year awards. He is recognized as an international expert and co-founded two international organizations dedicated to promoting global health equity. He is a fellow of AAEM and the American College of Academic International Medicine and has a leadership degree from the American Association for Physician Leadership. He has been recognized by CORD with the Distinguished Educator Award in Education Leadership from the Academy for Scholarship. He has been honored by two program director awards from AAEM and CORD. He has also achieved success as an expert in the media via commentaries and as an expert witness in the legal domain. His accomplishments led to advocacy work with the White House Office of the Vice-President.
Dr. Garg is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Detroit Receiving Hospital. His educational distinctions include Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha. He has been an attending physician since 2004, worked at Temple in Philadelphia from 2004-2019, and currently works in the Emergency Departments at Columbia Irving Medical Center, Weill Cornell and Lower Manhattan Hospitals.
