Virginia Thomas began her research in neuropsychology as an undergraduate student at Northeastern University. After graduation she worked as a Medical Service Corps officer in the US Army where she learned she could combine her love of medicine and research with her lifelong passions of space and aviation through the field of Aerospace Medicine. Over the past five years she has been working with the US Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) where she has studied human performance, specifically in high-stakes environments. She was selected for NASA’s Aerospace Medicine Research Clerkship where she studied fatigue monitoring and management in astronauts at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Her work will be used on the upcoming Artemis manned missions to the moon.
In 2025, Virginia graduated from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and commissioned as a Medical Officer in the US Army. She currently lives in Tacoma, WA where she works as a PGY-1 at Madigan Army Medical Center. Her new role as an intern has given her a vested interest in the topic of fatigue.
