Dr. Marco Propersi is a board-certified emergency physician and Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine. He currently serves as the Assistant Program Director and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Born and raised in Northern New Jersey, Dr. Propersi graduated with honors from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2003 and earned his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. He completed dual residency training in emergency medicine and internal medicine at Saint Barnabas Hospital in 2013.
Dr. Propersi is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of REBEL EM, a widely respected FOAMed blog and podcast focused on core content, critical appraisal of medical literature, and knowledge translation—bridging the gap between evidence and bedside care. REBEL EM reaches a global audience with over 2 million annual site visits and has reached more than 2.5 million podcast downloads.
A passionate medical educator, Dr. Propersi has lectured both regionally and nationally on a wide range of emergency medicine topics. He is known for his ability to use storytelling to educate, engage, and inspire. He regularly contributes to REBEL EM and has been featured on EM Over Easy, the ICE Blog, Critical Care Now. He was recognized with institutional teaching awards across three academic years and is a proud graduate of the ALiEM Faculty Incubator, where he further honed his skills in curriculum development and academic scholarship.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and triplet daughters, reading, snowboarding, fitness, and cheering for Yankee baseball.
