Dr. Butts graduated from the Keck School of Medicine and completed her residency and ultrasound fellowship at Louisiana State University. She served as the emergency ultrasound director at LSU until 2024, when she moved to the University of Wisconsin, where she currently is the director of the Advanced Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship. Her clinical interests include all things ultrasound, especially how to use ultrasound to bridge gaps in underserved and under-resourced clinical environments. Dr. Butts also writes the monthly column “The Speed of Sound” in Emergency Medicine News. Outside of work, Dr. Butts loves traveling, reading, baking, and spending time with her son.
